Announcements and Current NewsMontserrat Fuentes Appointed Editor of the Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental StatisticsKaye Basford, President of the International Biometric Society, announced that Montserrat Fuentes was appointed to the position of Editor, Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics (JABES). JABES—published jointly by the IBS and the American Statistical Association—publishes articles of immediate and practical value to applied researchers and statistical consultants in the agricultural sciences, the biological sciences (including biotechnology), and the environmental sciences (including those dealing with natural resources). Fuentes, currently at North Carolina State University (NCSU), will be the 5th Editor of JABES, now in its 13th year of publication. Her appointment will begin on January 1, 2011. The 3rd North American Congress of Epidemiology, to be held in Montreal June 21-24, 2011, is soliciting nominations for numerous awards at http://www.epicongress2011.org/awards.html . Note these include the Bernard Greenberg Award for Methods Development and Application. 2011 COPSS Award Call for Nominations The Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS) Awards are jointly sponsored by the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the International Biometric Society ENAR, the International Biometric Society WNAR, and the Statistical Society of Canada. They are: the R.A. Fisher Lectureship; the Florence Nightingale David Award; the Elizabeth L. Scott Award; the George W. Snedecor Award; and the Presidents' Award. Each award consists of a plaque, a citation, and a cash honorarium.
