  1. Welcome and Introductions
    Lance Waller

Lance Waller (ENAR President) welcomed attendees and opened the meeting.

  2. Approval of ENAR Business Minutes — JSM 2008
    Maura Stokes

The minutes from the ENAR Business Meeting at JSM 2008 were approved, pending any minor corrections to be sent to Maura Stokes (ENAR Secretary) within the next two weeks.

  3. Treasurer's Report
    Scarlett Bellamy

Scarlett Bellamy (ENAR Treasurer) distributed her report and the ENAR balance sheet based on pre-closing as of Dec 31, 2008. Several items were noted:

    1. Our financial status is good. We have five year CDs, with some 3.5 ones expiring soon. This means that all CDs will have interest rates of less than 2 very soon. Our financial strategy is always to have one year’s reserve.
    2. We do have catastrophic insurance for changing hotels (which we have had to do often in the last four years)

  4. Executive Director’s Report
    Kathy Hoskins

Kathy Hoskins provided updates on the different topics below.

    1. San Antonio meeting update — 1000 registrants (estimated), which is comparable to the ENAR Austin meeting 1300+ paid members, same as 2008. We lost some major sponsors this year, but still brought in 30,000 in sponsorship monies. Exhibitors are going strong with just one less table than last year. Four hundred of the attendees are members of ENAR.
    2. As far as career placement goes, there weren’t as many jobs as applicant with 15-16 employers and 80 applicants. We went totally electronic this year. Employers accessed the employee base a week before the meeting. We bought 6 laptops for on-site usage by the students. Everything went very well. We thanked Peter Imrey for his leadership in making this happen, and happen very smoothly its first year.

  5. Report on 2008 Spring Meeting — San Antonio
    Lance Waller

By all reports, the meeting has been very successful. The program chair, co-chair, and IMS chair, as well as the entire program committee worked together well and did a great job.

    • 660 total abstracts received.
    • New electronic system for the student awards worked well and was a huge help.
    • The diversity workshop filled so quickly that additional slots were allocated. All considered it a resounding success. Two high school students attended this year as well.
    • Over 80 people applied this year and so we will hold it again in New Orleans next year. This was well-organized by Amy Herring

  6. Future ENAR Spring Meetings
    Kathy Hoskins

    1. 2010 — New Orleans — Hilton New Orleans Riverside
The full committee is formed. Mike Daniels is Program Chair and Jeff Morris is co-chair.
    2. 2011 — Miami — Hyatt Regency Miami
    3. 2012 &madsh; DC — Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill

    Adjourn at 6:00 pm.
